The originsThe building was initially created in the mid-sixties of the last century to house the services of the ski resort Els Forquets, part of a macro ski resort that had as a project to unite the towns of Prats de Molló- La Presta, Py and Mentet; but these two last ones never carried out their part of the project. Thus Los Forquets was a local ski resort that formed an entire generation of Vallespir skiers until the mid-1990s. The lack of snow and the impossibility of installing artificial snow (as many other stations did of ski at that time) caused the station to be closed. All the lifts were disassembled and the building was converted into a refuge. From 2013 to 2015 it was closed and after a major reform it opened again in July 2015, as a mountain refuge and an integral part of the Massif del Canigó refuge network.
The buildingThe refuge consists of a large dining room with capacity for 50 people and a living room. At the bottom there is a bedroom with a capacity to accommodate 18 people with bathrooms and showers for women and men, completely renovated.
